There exists on the market of heather
fences ones manufactured mechanically, conditioned in 2,00 m lenght
rollers, even 5,00 Mr. Ours is handmade. With a thickness from
8 to 10 cm, it has a higher quality , but consequently its weight is heavier,
this is why we limit ourselves to make panels of 1 m broad to facilitate its
handling, without professional effects being necessary.
It is necessary to have a
very solid support, the heather fence offering a great wind resistance,
especially in great dimensions

On a levelled ground, plant posts
(wood, concrete, or iron) with a spacing of 2,00 m (it will be tiny room
according to the height of the fence, and the force of the wind prevailing).
The woodden posts will be inserted of at least 70 cm in the ground, and will be
sealed in the concrete for the others.
Place a horizontal network of wire
galvanized n°16 (2.7 mms diameter) whose distribution and number will
correspond to weft threads of the panels of heather to install. They will be
fixed in a solid but free way approximately to be able to be tended by
stiffeners placed all the 40m. Struts placed judiciously will allow this
operation.
The fence will be fixed on horizontal
iron wire using wire galvanized n° 8 (1,3 mms diameter) at a rate of a fastener
on each wire every 40 cm approximately.
The panels of heather will be joined
between themselves using their own weft threads to constitute a uniform surface
without discontinuity nor hole
For a perfect result, finish by
cutting the top of the fence whith garden shears to eliminate all the small
strands from heather which could exceed.
